Information Collection and Use

We may collect personal data from customers both online and offline.  Online, we may collect information through our website, an affiliated site (such as a promotional microsite linked to our site), our Page or Barefoot page on another community website or through similar online avenues.  In many cases, such information will be collected directly from you, such as through a transaction or inquiry (including via a telephone call) or your submission of a form, registration or communication to us.  We may also combine this with information about you which we have legitimately obtained from other sources such as providers of opt-in lists and our affiliates.

As you use our website some information can be “passively” collected using various technologies, such as cookies, web beacons and navigational data collection (clickstream, log files, server logs).  Your Internet browser automatically transmits some of this information, such as the URL of the website you just visited and the Internet Protocol (IP) address and browser version currently being used by your computer.  Subject to your consent, such technologies help us to keep track of your interactions with our website and/or Page and provide you with a more customized experience. We may disclose personal data you provide to our affiliates and related brands and/or companies and to consultants, service providers and contractors that we use to support our business and operations who have agreed to keep the information confidential and use it only to provide the applicable service(s).  In some cases, we work with other companies who help to gather information from you or help us to communicate with you.

According to the preferences you have expressed, we may share your personal data with affiliates or related brands or companies or selected third-party partners to enable them to market their or other selected third parties’ products and services to you.

If a third party acquires all (or substantially all) of our business and/or assets, we may disclose your personal information to that third party in connection with the acquisition. We may also disclose your personal information where we are required to do so by applicable law, by a governmental body or by a law enforcement agency.

We may transfer personal information that we collect from you to third party data processors or data controllers located in countries that are outside the European Economic Area.  The recipients of your personal data may be located in the United States or other jurisdictions that might not provide a level of protection equivalent to the laws in your jurisdiction, but the collection, storage and use of your personal data will continue to be governed by this privacy policy and measures will be taken to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.  We have a Model Contract in place between our U.S. and UK companies to keep your data safe.

We may make full use of all information that is de-identified or otherwise not in personally identifiable form. We may also make full use of all user-generated content you submit to us, in accordance with our Terms of Use.

The Barefoot website www.barefoot.co.uk (the “Site”) uses cookies. Cookies are small data files which the Site places on your computer or handheld device. This policy helps to explain when and why cookies may be sent to you when you visit this Site and how you can block and delete cookies.

What are cookies and how do they work?

A cookie is a simple text file that is stored on your computer or mobile device by a website’s server and only that server will be able to retrieve or read the contents of that cookie. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. It will contain some anonymous information such as a unique identifier and the site name and some digits and numbers.

Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (first party cookies) or they may be set by other websites who run content on the page you are viewing (third party cookies).

Most websites you visit will use cookies in order to improve your user experience by enabling that website to remember you, either for the duration of your visit (using a session cookie) or for repeat visits (using a persistent cookie).

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, storing your preferences, and generally improving your experience of a website. Cookies make the interaction between you and the website faster and easier. If a website doesn’t use cookies, it will think you are a new visitor every time you move to a new page on the site – for example, when you enter your login details and move to another page it won’t recognize you and it won’t be able to keep you logged in.
